We hope this message finds you safe and well. Due to the impending hurricane and its potential impact on our community, we have decided to postpone the FLAAPM Fall Meeting yet again.

We want to ensure the safety of all our members, and rescheduling the meeting to November will give everyone the time they need to prepare and recover. We will provide updates on the new date and details as soon as possible.

FLAAPM Committee-

The 2023 Spring Meeting had great participation with 23 submitted abstracts! 9 abstracts were chosen for oral presentations and the remaining abstracts were selected for poster presentations. The top 3 oral presentations (as scored by a panel of judges) were awarded cash prizes and the 1st place winner will be funded by the chapter to participate in the MedPhys Slam at the upcoming AAPM annual meeting.

• 1st Place - Aroon Pressram - University of Florida
• • Title: Agreement between Dual-Energy Computed Tomography (DECT) and MRI after Stroke Intervention
• 2nd Place - Abe Oraiqat - Moffitt Cancer Center
• • Title: Real-time, volumetric imaging of radiation dose delivery deep into the liver during cancer treatment
• 3rd Place - Colin Schaeffer - University of Florida
• • Title: Assessment of Dual-Energy Computed Tomography maps for Automated Differentiation of Iodine and Blood in Stroke Patients

Election results for the positions of President-Elect and Treasurer were announced at the Annual Business Meeting.

• Ken Cashon has been elected President-Elect
• Mark Artz has been elected Treasurer

We thank Debbie Schofield and Kyle Padgett for their service to the chapter as President and Tresurer.

Ballots for the President-Elect and Treasurer positions went out via email on 4/5/2023. Ballots were sent to the email address on file with AAPM to all Full chapter members. Results will be announced during the Saturday morning business meeting at the Spring FLAAPM meeting.

The Florida Chapter of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (FLAAPM) is seeking nominations for 2 officer positions including treasurer and president-elect.

The treasurer is responsible for all financial transactions of the chapter. The term of office is three years. 

The term of office for the presidential chain is three years.

Nominations are open to full members of the chapter. There are also no sub-specialty restrictions for the presidential chain this cycle.  Please submit all nominations to the Nominating Committee Chair and FLAAPM Past-President Debbie Schofield (debbie.l.schofield@gmail.com) by 3pm on March 1, 2023. Ballots will be prepared and sent out for voting by the chapter membership.  Election results will be announced at the annual business meeting on April 29, 2023.

As we plan for the upcoming FLAAPM Spring Chapter Meeting, we are seeking requests for topics and/or speakers. If you have something you’d like to share or hear about, please email FLAAPM President-Elect Perry Johnson at Perry.B.Johnson@gmail.com for review.

The FLAAPM Spring Chapter Meeting will be held in Orlando, FL in the Spring 2023. The specific dates and location are currently being finalized.
